Everything works fine (add-ons, etc), except that if I try to open a local html file I get the error message: 'Firefox. Here lately though, seems that Mozilla is doing all that they can to keep up with Chrome.Īnyone recall the "Browser Wars" of the late 90's? They've already began again. I am trying to use FF portable as my default browser (Vista Ultimate 64bit). To update drivers on your Windows 10 system, follow these simple steps Step 1: Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialogue.

Therefore, updating the drivers could help keep Firefox from crashing. They played a huge part in HTML5 development. Sometimes the problem is not with Firefox but with the drivers on your computer. Buying a new laptop is not an option, and thatd be silly -much easier to downgrade to firefox 4 where the 'not responding' problem did not occur, or use any one of several faster and more reliable browsers. In the past, Mozilla was more dedicated to producing the best possible browser for it's users, & addressing particular issues with updates/newer betas. I have the current versions of flash, java, quicktime and all windows updates and updated drivers for my hardware. Seems that lately, & this isn't OS dependent, that these Firefox betas tend to have bugs in them, more than they used to. Right now, I'm running FF 13.0.1 (the latest stable version) on all of my Windows installs. It's now actually 2 versions back now, but it's compatible with FF. The link to the Foxit Reader that worked well with Firefox is here. Uninstalled the latest version of Foxit & re-installed the older, all was fine again. Thought it was FF at first, so I removed it, no difference. ( not because of the 'not responding problem).

and the reason I changed to an alternative was because some of the addons that I use, dont work with the downgraded version of firefox.

I don't know the reason, but when I updated Foxit Reader to the latest version, FF became buggy when opening PDF Links. The addons I have been using prior to the 'udate'/downgrade did not cause this to happen.
